I'm Back!
The holidays are always a tough time of year for me. Every year I say to myself I am going to buy Christmas presents in advance or I am going to do my holiday baking in advance. These plans never seem to materialize and every year I find myself in a holiday frenzy starting the week before Thanksgiving with no end in sight until January.
I used to think it was because the children were small and required more time and attention and that it would get better and I would have more time as they got older. This is far from the case. As they get older, they are involved in more activities. Just when you think the holidays are for kicking back and relaxing, they have a tournament scheduled along with a practice squeezed in here and there. Between Christmas parties, Cub Scout hayrides, and concerts we can hardly catch our breath. How is a family supposed to plan a vacation, much less, squeeze in some holiday shopping?
The hectic pace of the holidays usually involves staying up late to get all the things done that need to get done. This is what usually leads to the post holiday illness I seem to get every January. The first part of January is typically spent recuperating from a winter illness.
This year the result of the holiday extravaganza was the neglect of my blog. I am slowing getting back on track. It seems there is so much to say and not enough time to blog it.
I have plenty to be excited about in this New Year. I am going to be working at home with my new computer. Amanda starts her first semester at Texas A&M on January 16th. Melissa is a senior this year and will be going to college this fall. Joshua and Weston always give me plenty to write about and keep me very busy also.
I hope 2005 was a good year for all of you and I pray that 2006 is even better for everyone.
